Warm Spaces Project
The winter period can be an incredibly difficult time for older people facing rising costs to electricity and heating costs.
This has led to people taking extreme measures to save energy: leaving their home during the day to avoid heating it, heating only a single room, or even switching off utilities all together.
South Gloucestershire Council, Charities and community groups have stepped up to support people through this hard, expensive winter.

South Gloucestershire Council’s Ageing Well Project are trying to make South Gloucestershire an Age Friendly County. Community Warm Space – Brockeridge Centre Frampton Cotterill
This venue is offering a Community Warm Space on Tuesdays 11-1pm. Offering free tea and coffee, free wi-fi and charging points for phone and other devices. They are hoping to offer some activities such as board games or crafts. Twice a month there is Coffee and Cake on Tuesdays and a volunteer runs a crochet and knitting session.

Community Warm Space – Wotton Baptist Church
This venue offers a Community Warm Space on Mondays 9am – 4pm (Subject to change). There are refreshments including toast for breakfast & soup/jacket potatoes for lunch. They have a hot shower, free WiFi and disabled access. Supervised children welcome. Activities include, games, craft, TV, general chat!

Community Welcome Space – Kingswood Community Fridge
Kingswood Community Fridge is open every Thursday 12pm-6pm. They offer free tea and coffee, Mental health support, free charging points for phone and other devices, Budgeting advice/managing utility bills, Information, Advice and guidance services.
They also have visits from external organisations including NHS Talking Therapies, Community Learning, Local Councillors, Avon Fire & Rescue Service, Local Police Beat Team, Healthwatch & Age UK South Glos.
