The oldest cemetery is contained within the boundary walls of the parish church of St James the Less. Currently the Church remains responsible for the old cemetery & the Parish Council helps with its maintenance.

Two Cemeteries
The new cemetery is on land given to the parish in 1908, was originally known as ‘Church Fields’. It is located just outside the church boundary walls. The Parish Council is responsible for its management & maintenance. The Parish Clerk ensures that burial records are up to date & deals with any associated administration.
Ancient hand written burial records have been carefully converted into a digital records by a volunteer. This will enable the records to be stored efficiently & accessed more easily.The newly created digital records should make it much simpler to access the information. This will help anyone wanting to trace ancestors or determine the location of individual plots.

For anyone wishing to be buried within the cemetery at Iron Acton there is a specific process that has to be followed. To help with this the following 3 documents have been provided. Each contains information that can help an individual complete each stage successfully to secure a plot. There are various charges attached to some of the process & these are given as a guide.
