Gloria Jean
Damage in the Playground
The Parish Council were notified yesterday of the abhorrent damage caused by persons unknown to Gloria Jean (our boat in the parish meadows children’s play area).

Addressing the immediate problem
At the monthly Parish Council meeting held last night (Monday the 17th of June) it was agreed that we will organise our parish contractor to remove the sides of the cabin. This will be done as soon as possible. In the meantime, Gloria Jean is roped off and is not able to be used.

Gloria Jean has been a firm favourite of many children for years but has been deliberately damaged on several occasions in recent years.
The future of Gloria Jean and the whole of the Meadows
Unconnected to this recent incident, the parish council are beginning a project to review the Meadows in its entirety. A working party has been meeting for the past two months to discuss ideas and are seeking professional advice on many aspects of this wonderful asset in our community. This is a project that is likely to span the next few years. We will continue to consult with you on this project in due time.
The whole children’s play area is being reviewed and a quote has already been sought for various changes and upgrades to all equipment including the future for Gloria Jean. In the coming months, IAPC will open a public consultation to gain the opinions of the parish, where different options will be presented before a final decision is made.
If anyone has any information on the persons who caused the damage please either contact the clerk or the police.

Updates will be given once the work to make it safe to use has been completed. There is a group of people who are meeting to explore ways of improving the Meadows for everyone & updates will also be given about this project.
