Village Agent Service
WERN Village Agents
The West of England Rural Network (WERN) plans to extend its Village Agent service to Charfield, part of Frampton Cotterell Wards & Iron Acton. A project supported by South Gloucestershire Council that includes the following four rural areas :Boyd Valley, Pilning & Severn Beach, Severn Vale and Cotswold Edge. The projects main aim is to improve health and wellbeing of mostly older people across rural areas of the county.
Village Agents are trusted local people who provide a free confidential service which can deliver
- one to one support
- signposting to information
- professional services to promote wellbeing
- reduce social isolation
- help to maintain independence.
The rural Village Agents project has been running across the West of England for over 10 years bringing a range of experience and expertise to this new project.

Initially the aim is to a local steering group to ensure the Village Agents to help us publicise the service and respond to unmet needs in your community. This is an eighteen-month project, with funding from the South Gloucestershire Locality partnership, so supported by both the Council and NHS.
The plan is to hold the initial community meeting on Thursday 25th April, exact time and location to be arranged.
